About this show

Genre Is Death plays Empty Bottle, a 400-capacity club in Ukrainian Village, on Tuesday, December 8. Also on the bill: The Art Gray Noizz Quintet. The show starts at 9 PM. Tickets are $20.39 plus fees.

Doors: 8PM / Show: 9PM / 21+ Genre Is Death (NYC) is a limitation-destroying noise band formed by Ty Varesi (guitar, vox) and Tayler Lee (bass, vox). Their sound is abrasive and malignant--- using heavy distortion, dissonant riffs, and reverberating vocals to create music that feels both minimal and overwhelming. While comparisons to Sonic Youth, Pussy Galore and Teenage Jesus and the Jerks are inevitable (and quite welcome), Genre is Death builds on NYC's legacy without repeating it... eschewing nostalgia and nihilism in favor of sonic liberation. Their record 'Attractive People' was released on May 1, 2026 on In The Red Records and was recorded by legendary sound producer Martin Bisi.
