About this show
Alec Ounsworth had weathered a storm. This, in some fashion, is how every Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album is born. The good and bad of life unfold, and after time and distance, Ounsworth begins making sense of it all in song. Yet as much as Ounsworth’s new songs emerged from grief and confusion and heartbreak, he didn’t want to dwell there. Those were only the jumping-off points. Once he began writing again, new material arrived in a burst, 10 vibrant songs cataloging the journey from loss to renewed hope. The songs cohered into the latest Clap Your Hands Say Yeah album, both wryly and earnestly titled Burned. “It was unusual for me,” Ounsworth says.
